The ingredients needed to make Gulab jambun cake:
  1. Make ready 1 cup plain flour
  2. Prepare 1/3 cup milk powder
  3. Make ready 1 1/2 tablespoon corn flour
  4. Prepare 1/4 cup fine semolina
  5. Prepare 1/4 cup grated mawa
  6. Make ready 1/4 cup condensed milk
  7. Make ready 1 teaspoon baking soda
  8. Make ready 1 teaspoon baking powder
  9. Make ready 1/2 cup melted ghee
  10. Make ready 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
  11. Prepare Few strands of saffron
  12. Make ready Pinch salt
  13. Make ready 1/2 cup sugar
  14. Get 1 1/2 cup warm milk
  15. Make ready 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  16. Get 1 teaspoon rose essence
  17. Take 3 tablespoon milk for saffron and mawa
  18. Take Sugar syrup:-
  19. Get 1/4 cup sugar
  20. Prepare 2 tablespoon water
  21. Make ready Pinch cardamom powder
  22. Get 1 teaspoon rose essence
  23. Make ready Few strands of saffron
  24. Take 1 teaspoon lemon juice
Instructions to make Gulab jambun cake:
  1. (This step is if you do not have mawa. - In a bowl add 1 teaspoon of ghee and 1 teaspoon of milk. Warm it in microwave for 10 seconds. Add it to 1/4 cup of milk powder and rub it in, resembling bread crumbs to make mawa if not available. )
  2. Making sugar syrup:- - In a pan add sugar and water and bring it to boil. Add the lemon juice and let it boil for further 2 minutes. Turn off the gas and add rose essence to the syrup. Mix well.
  3. Baking the cake:- - Preheat oven to 160C. - Grease a tin with little ghee and dust flour to it. - Warm the remaining 2 tablespoon milk in microwave for 10 seconds and add saffron to it. Set aside.
  4. Sieve sugar, milk powder, plain flour, semolina, baking soda and baking powder together.
  5. Mix the condensed milk, ghee and milk together. Add the vinegar and rose essence and mix well. Gradually start adding flour mix and and mix well. Finally add the grated mawa and saffron milk and mix well. Transfer to the greased tin and bake for about 45 to 50 minutes or until the skewer comes out clean.
  6. Remove from oven and let it cool for 15 to 20 minutes. With a skewer make holes in the cake. Drizzle some sugar syrup before removing the cake from the tin. Invert on a rack and drizzle the sugar syrup. Garnish with nuts of your choice. Serve with ice cream or with a cup of tea.
