The ingredients needed to make Spaghetti Bolognese:
  1. Prepare 1 large onion (diced)
  2. Prepare 2 tins tomatoes (425g tin)
  3. Make ready 400 ml beef stock
  4. Prepare 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  5. Make ready 400 grams mince beef
  6. Take 100 grams grated or sliced carrots (optional)
  7. Get 2 cloves garlic (chopped)
  8. Take 400 grams dried spaghetti
  9. Take 1/3 tsp seasoned or garlic salt
  10. Get 1/3 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  11. Take 2 bay leaves
  12. Make ready 1/4 tsp Cayenne chilli pepper
  13. Get to taste parmigiano cheese (to sprinkle on top)
  14. Take 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  15. Prepare 1/2 tsp dried basil
  16. Prepare 1 tsp Sugar
Instructions to make Spaghetti Bolognese:
  1. Heat 2 tbsp olive oil over a medium heat in a saucepan.
  2. Add the beef, and brown (Don't over cook the beef). Should only need about 5 minutes tops.
  3. Transfer to a bowl once its cooked and set aside.
  4. Using the same pan, add 1 tbsp of olive oil and heat.
  5. Add the onions, bay leaves, salt and pepper. Fry for about 5 minutes or until softened.
  6. Add the garlic and cook for a further 1-2 minutes.
  7. Then add the carrots and mince beef back into the pan.
  8. Next add the tomatoes and stir well. Add the herbs, spices and sugar.
  9. Pour in the stock and then reduce heat.
  10. Check seasoning is to your taste before turning the heat off.
  11. Simmer on low heat for about 45 minutes or until the sauce has thickened. Set aside when cooked.
  12. When its time to cook the pasta. Heat a saucepan filled with water, a pinch of salt and 1 tablespoon of butter.
  13. Cook pasta as the instructions say. After boiling point it normally takes 12-15 minutes to cook pasta.
  14. Drain the pasta when cooked.
  15. On each plate pour sauce over pasta then sprinkle with some cheese. (I used parmigiano cheese)
