Recipe of Favorite Nikujaga

Hey everyone, it’s John, welcome to my recipe site. Today, we’re going to make a special dish, nikujaga. One of my favorites. For mine, I will make it a little bit tasty. This is gonna smell and look delicious.

Nikujaga is one of the most favored of recent trending foods on earth. It is simple, it’s fast, it tastes yummy. It’s enjoyed by millions every day. They’re nice and they look fantastic. Nikujaga is something which I’ve loved my whole life.

To get started with this particular recipe, we have to prepare a few components. You can have nikujaga using 9 ingredients and 5 steps. Here is how you cook that.

The ingredients needed to make Nikujaga:
  1. Get 4 Potatoes
  2. Prepare 1-2 Onions
  3. Prepare 1 small piece Ginger *sliced into thin strips
  4. Prepare 300-400 g Thinly Sliced Beef (or Pork/Chicken)
  5. Prepare Itokonnyaku/Shirataki (Konjac Noodles) *optional
  6. Prepare Dashi Stock OR Water
  7. Make ready 1 tablespoon Sugar
  8. Get 1 tablespoon Mirin
  9. Make ready 2 tablespoons Soy Sauce
Instructions to make Nikujaga:
  1. Cut thinly sliced Beef (or Pork/Chicken) into bite size, Potatoes into 4 to 5cm pieces, and Onion(s) 1-2cm strips. *Note: I often use a thick rump steak. Simply slice it thinly and ready to use for the dish.
  2. Place Potato, Onion and Ginger into a pot and just cover with Dashi Stock OR Water. You would need 400 to 500ml. Add Sugar, Mirin and Soy Sauce, cook over high heat.
  3. When it starts boiling, add Beef (OR Pork, Chicken) and Itokonnyaku/Shirataki (Konjac Noodles), then cook covered until Potato is soft, stirring occasionally. *Note: Lower the heat if required, but I usually keep the high heat.
  4. When Potato is cooked, remove the lid, and cook until the sauce is thickened, shaking and tossing occasionally.
  5. Pour into a large serving bowl and serve.
