Dan wake is a lovely meal that is common to the people of Hausa, Nigeria. On this post, you will be taught how to prepare delicious Danwake. Dan Wake is a meal made from cooked balls of dough made from bean flour and kuka powder (ground baobab leaves). In a bowl, add sifted flour, baobab powder, salt, liquid potash and a small amount of water, mix them together but not too watery.

  1. Take Flour
  2. Take Liquid potash
  3. Make ready Salt
  4. Prepare Chilli pepper (yajin borkono)
  5. Get Baobab powder
  6. Make ready Eggs
  7. Prepare Groundnuts oil
  8. Take cubes Maggi

In a bowl, mix the bean and kuka flour. In a separate bowl, dissolve the potash in a cup of warm water and slowly pour into the flour mix till its all incorporated. You should have a thick paste In a boiling pot of water, scoop some danwake into the pot with your hand and form little balls. Danwake is a dish made from beans flour that originated from Niger which has been adopted across Northern Nigeria.

Steps to make Beans Dumplings (Danwake):
  1. In a bowl, add sifted flour, baobab powder, salt, liquid potash and a small amount of water, mix them together but not too watery.
  2. Heat up water. When it boils, drop the mixture into the boiled water using your finger tips or use spoon until it finishes.
  3. Allow it to cook for some minutes, then drain the hot water and add cool water. Heat up your oil, add onion to fry the oil. Boil your eggs.
  4. Remove the dumplings from the water and transfer it to a bowl or plate. Sprinkle some pepper, maggi cube, oil and add the boiled eggs. Serve.

You should have a thick paste In a boiling pot of water, scoop some danwake into the pot with your hand and form little balls. Danwake is a dish made from beans flour that originated from Niger which has been adopted across Northern Nigeria. It's very filling and high in protein! Though I don't know what it's called in English, I would call it 'Beans Flour Dumplings'. This is also one of my favourite Northern Nigerian recipes but it's one of those things Cook beans with ham on Stove top or in crock pot.
