Custard buns are soft milk bread filled with a creamy custard filling in the centers. They are delightful soft buns that make perfect snacks or breakfasts. Bread, bread on the blog again. Steamed custard buns are a dim sum classic, but I found them to be a perfect dish for holiday gatherings and parties as well.

Custard buns is one of the most favored of recent trending foods in the world. It is simple, it’s fast, it tastes yummy. It’s appreciated by millions every day. Custard buns is something which I have loved my whole life. They are nice and they look wonderful.

To begin with this particular recipe, we have to prepare a few ingredients. You can have custard buns using 18 ingredients and 5 steps. Here is how you can achieve that.

The ingredients needed to make Custard buns:
  1. Make ready Dough ingredients
  2. Prepare 350 gm all purpose flour
  3. Take 15 gm dried yeast
  4. Take 2 eggs
  5. Prepare 150 gm sugar
  6. Get 2 dl milk
  7. Prepare 1 teaspoon cooking oil
  8. Prepare 1 dl cold water
  9. Make ready Filling ingredients
  10. Take 200 gm custard powder
  11. Make ready 2 dl water
  12. Make ready 1 dl heavy cream
  13. Prepare 1 dl icing sugar
  14. Make ready 200 gm blended corn from can
  15. Take 1 tablespoon melted butter
  16. Make ready Topping ingredients
  17. Make ready 1 egg (beat)
  18. Get Sesame seeds

It is somewhere in between two recipes. Custard bun is very popular in Taiwan, you can find it in every bakery. It's usually a round bun with a custard swirl on top of the bun as a decoration. After I came to the US, I was looking for custard buns but couldn't find it in any local grocery store.

Steps to make Custard buns:
  1. Mixed all the dough ingredients. Knead until become smooth dough texture. Put a side, cover up with kitchen cloth, let it rise, will take around 40min.
  2. Mixed all the filling ingredients in a big bowl (accept the blended corn & icing sugar). Stir well until all combine. Put in microwave for 1.5min on 750w. Take it out and add in icing sugar and blended corn. Stir it until texture combine and smooth.
  3. After 40min. Take out the dough. Knead again and cut it into small dough around 65gm each. Roll then into round shape, preparing to make the buns.
  4. Each small dough filling with the custard corn. Make it into round shape. After all the dough is done. Brush the egg ontop the buns and sprinkle the sesame seeds on. Let it rest for 25min before bake.
  5. Bake in 180° for 20min then is ready.

It's usually a round bun with a custard swirl on top of the bun as a decoration. After I came to the US, I was looking for custard buns but couldn't find it in any local grocery store. The Custard Bun uses the same easy basic dough as our Chinese Steamed Buns Mantou which makes a basic sweet light fluffy white bread that is the basis for a lot of Chinese breads, stuffed and unstuffed. Fermentation of sugar in the dough by the yeast called Saccharomyces cerevisiae helps the dough to rise. Chinese steamed custard bun (奶皇包) is a type of baozi, bun or bread.
